I don't know where I've been for the past four years because I just found out that Ellis Faas has her own makeup line! Ellis is one of my makeup heroes, and I've admired her work for a long time. Her work is some of the coolest, most creative makeup artistry I've ever seen. So when I found out that she had a makeup line AND was going to be at The Makeup Show this past weekend, I was excited! I did a little research before I went, so I knew what I would be looking at. There are two amazing things about her line....one being the packaging, which is as creative as her makeup applications. Almost her entire line is dispensed through pens with brushes on the tip. They look like bullets, and she offers holders like the ones pictured above and below. The individual plastic holders snap together to make a chain, as in the photograph above. The other holder, made of aluminum, holds 7 pens of whatever you choose...either her cream eyeshadows, concealers, blushes, lip colors, or foundations. There is a place in the lid for your pressed powder, (or you can purchase a separate beautiful little powder case - pictured in detail below), so you can put your makeup for your entire face in this sleek, super cool holder and that is all you need! It's perfect for me for traveling, both for myself and for whatever client I'm traveling with.
The other important thing I like about Ellis's makeup, is that she calls all of her colors "Human Colours", meaning they are found somewhere on your body. Do you have freckles, birthmarks, or moles? Well, leave it to Ellis to create the beautiful colors for her line out of the things we most often want to hide!
From her website: "From the tawny peach of a freckle to the pure, vivid red that pulses through our veins, the ELLIS FAAS Human Colours collection looks to the human palette for inspiration. The colours that exist naturally in our bodies are complex and rich, but they're also universal, shared by each and every one of us. Based on this universal spectrum, ELLIS FAAS Human Colours complement all skin tones, and when it comes to looking one's best, what better way to highlight a great feature or mask an imperfection than with tones and hues that already exist in each of us?"
**One of my favorites that I bought is a sparkly white liquid shadow that looks like diamonds when you put it on the eye, like the one pictured below. That is not an exaggeration of the intensity of the sparkle. It's gorgeous!
I tried them out on a music video I worked on yesterday with a new Warner Brothers recording artist, and I'll be sharing those photos with you as soon as I get the go-ahead to post them. So stay tuned to the Beaute' Districkt for more updates!
